Absolut Open Canvas Transforms Lagos into a Masterpiece

The Absolut Open Canvas, Transform Lagos project ended last year, but a lot of buzz and talk is still lingering both online and off-line. For all those that left Lagos during the holidays and couldn't witness the spectacle, here is a quick run down.

From the 18th to 22nd of December 2013, Lagos was taken over by a small army of artists enlisted by Absolut Vodka to transform four different locations (Yaba, Ikeja, Tinubu Square, Festac) from a mundane white canvas to extraordinary works of art.

The collective artists involved pushed the boundaries of creativity, by sharing their respective artistic marks on canvases across Lagos, each artist used art to tell a story, a tale about life, a tale about Lagos now and what Lagos should be; by the end of the 5 five day activation they had created a masterpiece, basically a giant body of art that left Lagosians in awe.

All the four locations looked very busy, with lots of people watching the artists work, there was loud music from very motivated Dj’s, a whole lot of media people showed up; although it was difficult to tell cause almost everyone had a camera aimed at the canvas.

Absolut collaborated with four influencers on the project,  Dumebi Agbakoba - Fashion Designer & Magazine Editor, Chamberlain Ukenedo–Mixed Media Artist, Ibe Ananaba–Mixed Media Artist & DJ Sose - Musical DJ. It was inspiring to see them work closely as a team with the emerging artists, there was a lot famzing going on but thats okay.
